Dr Michael J. Jackson - President and Senior Research Ecologist
Michael is an applied limnologist with extensive expertise in aquatic ecology and a particular interest in aquatic invertebrate communities. He has worked on a number of major research projects, including studies into the effects of toxic contaminants in antifouling paints and the importance of macrophyte structural complexity in aquatic predator-prey interactions. Michael has also been the driving force behind a number of practical and innovative solutions in habitat restoration.
He has excellent communication skills and is the author of many published papers and technical reports. He gives regular presentations to government bodies, corporate clients, university graduates, natural history societies and practical workshops. He enjoys problem solving and has a broad knowledge of a variety of multivariate statistical methods. As a dedicated ecologist, he has developed the ability to motivate and organize people to achieve a common goal.
Michael received his BSc Honours (Biological Sciences) from the University of East Anglia, UK and his Masters in Conservation from University College London. He gained his PhD from the University of East Anglia on 'The Role of Littoral Macro invertebrates in the Management of Shallow Lake Systems'. He is also a Research Associate with the University of British Columbia's Forestry Department.
Michael is a Registered Professional Biologist and a member of the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography, the North American Benthological Society,
The Canadian Society of Limnology and The Entomological Society of British
Columbia and the Freshwater Biological Association. He is a director of the
Sunshine Coast Conservation Association and Chair of the Ruby Lake Lagoon Nature
Reserve Society.

Jennifer Bull, MSc - Director
and Senior Biologist
Jennifer has been
working with Acroloxus since 2002. She brings a wealth of research and field
expertise to the team, and is experienced in report writing and coordinating
field activities. Prior to joining Acroloxus, she studied water quality issues
in the Fraser River and other Lower Mainland rivers with the BC Ministry of
Water, Land and Air Protection and spent over five years working on stream
ecology studies at the University of British Columbia.
Jennifer has a BSc in Environmental Protection from the
University of Guelph and an MSc in Forestry from the University of British
Columbia.

Dr Michelle Evelyn
- Director and Senior Biologist
Michelle joined Acroloxus in 2004 and brings scientific expertise to the team
through her expert research, data analysis and report writing skills. Michelle
has spent the past decade researching the impacts of human activities on plants,
insects, birds and mammals in British Columbia, California and Mexico. She is
the recipient of many grants, awards, and academic honours including the Teresa
Heinz Scholars for Environmental Research Award and the Vladimir Krajina Award
for Excellence in Plant Ecology.
Michelle gained a BSc (honours) in Ecology and Animal
Biology from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and an MSc and PhD in
Ecology from Stanford University. She is a Research Associate with
the Centre for Biodiversity Research at the UBC.

Nonie Dalton, BSc - Director and
Database Manager
Nonie joined Acroloxus in 2004 and brought with her four
years of experience working with biological databases for an environmental
consulting company. Her past projects include several commercial fisheries
monitoring programs and coastal classification and mapping systems. She also has
extensive experience in developing data quality control and quality assurance
systems.
Nonie has a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Environmental
Studies from the University of Victoria and advanced training in Access
Databases from Camosun College.

David Stiles, BSc
- Wildlife Biologist
Dave joined Acroloxus in 2005. As a field biologist, he has spent the past decade working on wildlife research and conservation projects. He has worked with a great diversity of animals including amphibians, birds, bats, insects, and small and medium sized mammals. Dave is skilled at organizing, coordinating and motivating large teams of researchers, volunteers and interns.
Dave has a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth and Life Sciences from the University of British Columbia.

Kate Henderson, BSc
- Biologist
Kate joined Acroloxus in 2005. She brings her expertise in marine and fisheries sciences. As a Research Assistant at the University of Edinburgh Institute of Evolutionary Ecology, Kate conducted research on Threespine Stickleback behaviour. As a Marine Science Educator at Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre, Kate developed and taught marine science and conservation programs to students aged 13 to adult, coordinated youth forums on biodiversity, and presented many workshops and outreach programs related to marine ecology and conservation.
Kate has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Victoria

Dale Jackson
- Director and Company Secretary
With a qualification in law from the UK Dale brings training and experience in simplifying complex issues and investigating facts. She has 9 years experience as the leading advisor on ethical guidance for lawyers. Dale also headed a criminal investigation unit at the Law Society in England. Dale has the expertise and experience to problem solve, research issues, fact find, and draft policies procedures and recommendations. She has a friendly professional approach and works well with committees and members of the public. She provides administration services to Sunshine Coast businesses, economic development groups and organizations and also acts as a Marriage Commissioner.
